Malik Julian Blaise was born on September 9, 1997, in New Orleans to Michael
Blaise Sr. and Chinell Britton. He was raised between Meraux and Violet, Louisiana, often
splitting time between the two communities. Malik is the middle child of five siblings, with
older siblings Asharia and Michael Blaise Jr., and younger twin brothers, Michaund and
Mikael Blaise.
Malik was a three-sport athlete at Kenilworth before the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
Upon returning with his family to St. Bernard Parish, he picked up where he left off in
athletics. While participating in recreational football and basketball, baseball ultimately
became his primary passion.
As a freshman at Chalmette High School, Malik was the youngest player on each team in
every sport he played, but he never allowed that to hinder his development. Throughout his
high school career, he made a lasting impact through both leadership and performance
across football, basketball, and baseball. His accolades include:
●
Earned varsity letters in Basketball (1 year), Football (3 years), and Baseball (4
years)
●
CHS Basketball Defensive Player of the Year (2013–2014)
●
CHS Football Captain’s Award (2013, 2014)
●
CHS Baseball MVP (2014, 2015)
●
All-District Baseball (2014, 2015)
●
All-State Baseball (2015)
Malik was also a member of the Chalmette High School baseball team that went undefeated
in district play and set the school record for most wins in a single season.
He later went on to play Division I baseball at Southern University in Baton Rouge,
Louisiana. Although not a starter during his freshman year, Malik made a statement in a
game against LSU, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. He earned a partial scholarship for the
following two seasons, which he lost entering his senior year due to limited production.
Despite this setback, Malik played a pivotal role in his final season, earning First Team
All-Conference honors at shortstop.
That same year, the Southern Jaguars captured the 2019 SWAC Baseball Championship
and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Malik also graduated from Southern University
with a bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation and Leisure Studies.
Malik continued his professional playing career in the United Shore Professional Baseball
League (USPBL) in Utica, Michigan, where he won two league championships and was
named to the 2020 USPBL All-Star Team. He later played with two teams in the Pioneer
Baseball League before finishing his career in the Empire Pro Baseball League.Currently, Malik resides in St. Petersburg, where he works as a Customer Development
Apprentice at Power Home Remodeling. He plans to transition back into baseball through
coaching, with aspirations of becoming part of a college national championship staff or a
World Series championship organization.
Malik credits every coach, teammate, family member, and supporter who has played a role
in his journey, expressing deep gratitude for the time, love, and belief they invested in him
along the way.
