Kelly Melerine Plaisca

Kelli was born and raised in St. Bernard Parish, and is a proud representative of the public school system having gone to Lacoste Elementary, Trist Middle, and Andrew Jackson High School. She began her athletic career in the St. Bernard Recreation Department at Rebel Park where she played all sports. While at Trist, she played volleyball, basketball softball and ran track. At Andrew Jackson, she played volleyball, basketball, softball and ran track and cross country. She received an athletic scholarship to the University of New Orleans where she played volleyball for 4 years. She started her Coaching Career in 1986 at P.G.T. Beauregard High School as the head basketball coach, and assistant volleyball coach. When the school system went co-ed in 1988, she transferred to Chalmette High, where she became the head coach of the first ever Chalmette High volleyball team. Kelli is the only coach to have coached the volleyball team at Chalmette High, and currently has over 600 career wins. She has also been the assistant coach in girls’ basketball and track while teaching at Chalmette High. In 2011, she was inducted into the Louisiana Volleyball Coaches Hall of Fame. Kelli’s dream was to teach and coach in the St. Bernard Parish Public School System so she could give back to the community where she grew up, loves so dearly and where she began her athletic career. Kelli’s husband, Michael, works for the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Department. They have 2 beautiful children, Brock and Brynn, who both attend school in the St. Bernard Parish Public School System. They are all lifelong residents of St. Bernard Parish.
