St. Bernard Sports Hall of Fame Induction ceremony
2024 brought so much to the St. Bernard Sports Hall of Fame as we prepared for our 28th annual induction ceremony, which was held at a familiar but different location than years’ past. The sit down dinner and ceremony took place on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 7:00 PM. at the Frederick Sigur Center, located at 8246 West Judge Perez Dr. in Chalmette.
Bringing her rockstar motivation and appeal to our guests, we were honored to have Former LSU Gymnastics Coach DD Breaux with us as our guest speaker for the evening. You won’t want to miss what she had to say. Her experience as a Hall of Fame Collegiate Coach and her ability to motivate athletes to accomplish and achieve amazing things is unparalleled.
Inductees into the Hall of Fame included William “Billy” Dalton, famous Pole Vaulter. Ryan Deemes, esteemed baseball legend, and Donald Hartman, legendary athlete and baseball player. These three outstanding athletes in their respective fields made a lifelong impact on those who followed in these sports.
The Board of Directors was also excited to be honoring two Crystal Award winners this year. Lenny Schwab and Lana Ibieta were honored for their athletic accomplishments and contribution to our community.
Our Ronnie Lamarque High School Amateur Athletes this year represented all that is great about our young people in this parish. Chalmette High Seniors Ethan Couvillon (Football) and Gabrielle Landry (volleyball and basketball) were honored for their outstanding careers at Chalmette High School.
Our Meraux Foundation Special Olympic Athletes made us proud this year. Tyshae Brady and Jaden Butler were honored at our ceremony. We are proud of them and how they continue to make St. Bernard Parish proud.
The 2024 humanitarian award was awarded posthumously to Buford “Boo” Jones this year for his contribution to athletics and building our community through the sports of football, baseball, basketball, and track. The influence that Jones helped bring to our Chalmette high school sports are to be remembered. He was a great role model for our athletes in the years he was alive.
