St. Bernard Sports Hall of Fame Inducts 30th Class in Milestone Celebration

St. Bernard Parish, LA – The St. Bernard Sports Hall of Fame proudly announces the induction of its 30th Hall of Fame Class, marking a significant milestone in celebrating more than three decades of athletic excellence, leadership, and community pride in St. Bernard Parish.

This landmark event honors exceptional athletes, teams, and contributors whose dedication, talent, perseverance, and service have left a lasting impact on local and professional sports.

2025 Hall of Fame Inductees
The 30th class features three outstanding honorees:
Pat Pourciau – Recognized for her illustrious softball playing and coaching career, shaping generations of athletes and elevating the standard of softball in the region.
Chuck Maher – A professional bowler whose competitive success and sportsmanship have brought distinction to St. Bernard Parish on the national stage.
Malik Blaise – A professional baseball player whose hard work and determination have carried him from local fields to the professional ranks.

Crystal Award Honorees
The Hall of Fame will also present its Crystal Awards to Thomas Clark and Mike Chimento for their illustrious careers in coaching and playing sports, and for their lasting impact on the athletic fabric of St. Bernard Parish.

Gulf Coast Humanitarian Award
The Gulf Coast Humanitarian Award will be presented posthumously to Mike Ginart, Jr., honoring his servant leadership, generosity, and profound impact on the St. Bernard community.

Spotlight Accomplishments
Special Spotlight Accomplishments will recognize:
● The 1984 University of New Orleans Baseball Team, the first in program history to compete in the College World Series, setting a historic standard of excellence.
● The St. Bernard Bluefins Swim Club, creators of the parish’s first competitive swim team and a lasting foundation for youth swimming.

Collegiate Standouts:
● Ryder Planchard
● Tyray Darensburg
Both athletes are being honored for their exceptional collegiate achievements and for proudly representing St. Bernard Parish athletics.

Meraux Foundation Special Olympics Awards

Honoring Zora Marsh and Draven Voggenauer, celebrating their determination, achievement, and character.

Exceptional Athlete Award
(Honoring Adult Special Olympians)
Presented to Elizabeth Perkins and Brandon Baham, recognizing their perseverance, sportsmanship, and inspirational spirit.

The Ronnie Lamarque Amateur Athlete Awards

Honoring Our Founders and Board Leadership
The organization will honor its Founding Fathers — Ronnie Kornick, Sr., Bryan Frichter, and Roy Cortes — for their vision and dedication in building this world-class organization. Because
of them, the Hall of Fame proudly celebrates over 30 years of excellence.

Longtime board members Eddie Appel and Rene Hyer will be recognized for more than 16 years of service to the Hall of Fame and St. Bernard Parish. A special recognition will also be given to Gus Reiss, whose mentorship helped establish the valued corporate partnership between Gulf Coast Bank and the Hall of Fame.

Sigur Civic Center, located in St. Bernard Parish.
